Call for Presenters
The call for presenters of short conference sessions and advanced conference sessions has closed. We are still seeking expressions of interest for conducting full or half day workshops, and for posters.
All submissions for conference sessions received (nearly 80 of them!) will undergo a peer review process to be short listed, and then additional details will be requested.
Conference Presentations
The conference will be two days jam packed with presentation sessions of 30 minutes and 60 minutes each. The short sessions are intended for brief, light, introductory, or overview material; or as open-discussion format sessions. The longer sessions are reserved for “advanced” presentations, to cater for the growing numbers of experienced practitioners in Australia.
Short sessions are ideal for the first time presenter, for audience interactive discussion, and for explorative ideas.
The smaller set of in-depth “Advanced“ sessions need to be of high quality, presenters should assume base industry knowledge, and so not waste time defining commonly known terms. Presenters will be asked to provide a reading list before the conference. These sessions should dive right in deep, and cram as much content in as they can. All advanced sessions will end on a major break, to allow for over-run of Q&A.
Thank you for your many submissions, we will soon be requesting the following details from the short listed selections:
- title
- subject/topic
- intended audiences, including prior knowledge base
- specific take-aways
- speaker profile
- speaker photo
- pre-session reading (for advanced presentations)
Workshops
Full or half day workshops are scheduled for the Thursday and Friday preceding the conference. These are optional events charged separately to the conference, on a profit-share basis with the presenters, and are contingent on numbers.
We are soliciting workshop proposals - please submit ideas for workshops via the form below and we will contact you for further details, including:
- title
- subject/topic
- audiences, including prior knowledge base
- learning objectives
- format (tutorial/lecture/forum/etc)
- length (half or full day)
- course outline (hour by hour style)
- preferred numbers (minimum/maximum)
- any venue/materials requirements
- any restrictions or conditions
- speaker profile
Posters
We are seeking expressions of interest for posters - these are a concept or technique presented with clarity on a single poster, and we will have a whole space set up displaying these. These are, basically, an outlet for the shy types, who don't want to stand up in front of an audience.
We are also seeking a sponsor for the posters, and if we get one we can arrange large format printing for you so don't let that hold you back.
Send us your proposals
All conference presenters of short sessions and advanced sessions will receive a complimentary registration for themselves, will also have accomodation made available at the venue, and basic travel expenses reimbursed.
Send all proposals to proposals2008@oz-ia.org, or use the following form:
